2. Clacton airshow

Clacton Airshow is one of the longest-running free air shows and they are celebrating its 26th year in 2017. It’s a medium size event and shows a good mix of military and classic aircraft as well as exhibitions, trade shows and entertainment. There is also a food court on site, making it a great day out with friends or family.

The RAF are supporters of the show and there are also firework displays which take place at the airshow. If love aircraft and history, you’ll have a great day out at Clacton Airshow.

4. West Cliff Theatre 

West Cliff Theatre is in the heart of the seaside town, Clacton-on-Sea. The theatre is full of history and dates back to 1894 when Bert Graham, a 21 year old civil servant set up a concert in Agate Road.

5. Weelyhall Wood Nature Reserve

Weelyhall Wood Nature Reserve is a biological site of Special Scientific Interest and it is north of Clacton-on-Sea in Essex. The nature reserve is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust and has a variety of woodland and seasonal flowers to discover.

Weelyhall Wood Nature Reserve is one of the best surviving woods in the Tendering area, even though it was badly damaged in a storm back in 1987. It is a beautiful place to visit, especially in the spring when the Bluebells are out. There are many floral displays that cover the floor of the woodland, so make sure to visit in the summer months!

The forest is also home to a range of wildlife, including various birds such as Nightingales, which have increased in numbers as well as many unusual butterflies.

The wood is accessible at all times and allows dogs in certain parts of the woods. Why not visit on the weekend with friends or family, or go on a dog walk? The forest is a beautiful place to go, whether you fancy a walk or bird watching.
